Study Purpose
The purpose of this project is to assess the perspectives of key informants, caregivers, and lung cancer survivors/patients within low-income African American/Black communities regarding community readiness to address lung cancer screening and treatment disparities. By gathering insights from these stakeholders, the project aims to identify existing barriers, challenges, and facilitators related to access to lung cancer screening and treatment services. Ultimately, the goal is to utilize these findings to develop innovative and culturally appropriate interventions that enhance access to treatment and resources for individuals at risk of or diagnosed with lung cancer within these communities.
Objectives

To evaluate the perspectives of key informants and caregivers serving low-income African American/Black communities on the readiness of the community to address lung cancer screening and treatment disparities.

To assess the perspectives of Black/African American lung cancer survivors/patients residing in low-income communities regarding community readiness to address lung cancer screening and treatment disparities.

To identify barriers, challenges, and facilitators associated with access to lung cancer screening and treatment services within low-income African American/Black communities.

To utilize the gathered insights to inform the development of innovative and culturally appropriate interventions aimed at increasing access to treatment and resources for individuals at risk of or diagnosed with lung cancer within these communities.
Outcome
The outcome of this study is to contribute to the development of interventions that effectively address disparities in lung cancer screening and treatment within low-income African American/Black communities. By implementing culturally sensitive strategies informed by the perspectives of stakeholders, the project seeks to improve access to essential services and resources for individuals affected by lung cancer, ultimately working towards reducing health disparities and enhancing health outcomes within these communities.
